What is Express Entry?

Express Entry is Canada’s system for managing applications for three of its main economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSW), the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FST). It is a points-based system where applicants are ranked using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).

Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSW)

The FSW program is for skilled workers with foreign work experience who want to immigrate to Canada permanently. To be eligible, you must meet minimum requirements for skilled work experience, language ability, and education. You must also score 67 points or more on a selection factors grid.

Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

The CEC is designed for skilled workers who have Canadian work experience. This program helps temporary foreign workers and international students who have graduated from a Canadian institution to transition to permanent residency. Key requirements include at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada within the last three years.

Federal Skilled Trades Program (FST)

The FST program is for skilled workers who want to become permanent residents based on being qualified in a skilled trade. To be eligible, you must have at least two years of full-time work experience in a skilled trade within the last five years, a valid job offer or a certificate of qualification, and meet a minimum language requirement.
